SUITE SIMA is a musical tribute to the Sydney Improvised Music Association, for their long ongoing contribution to Sydney’s creative jazz community. Many outstanding careers have been nurtured through their support and much great music has been created and heard under their auspices, played by top Australian or visiting artists. The musicians on this recording have an extensive history of playing for SIMA with James Greening and Phil Slater often heard there as bandleaders. To all who have shared the journey thus far, I hope this recording rekindles fond memories and shows why SIMA continues to be so important to Australia’s creative music scene.
